The .gov.au means it’s official

Australian government websites always use a .gov.au domain. Before sharing sensitive information online, make sure you’re on a .gov.au site by inspecting your browser’s address (or 'location') bar.

This roadmap shows what the Design System team is currently planning to work on over the next 12 months. This roadmap is open to change and we welcome community input. For more detail, including the team's current and upcoming sprint goals, please see the public project board.

Things we are currently working on:

  • Expand template offerings to include commonly-requested templates (for example, search engine result pages, media releases, etc.)
  • Ensure common government CMS platforms can easily align with current versions of components and templates

Things we will be working on in the near future:

  • Gather and implement feedback on Pagination component
  • Building a gallery of example deployments of the design system
  • Update information architecture for supporting documentation
  • Track and provide referrals to third-party frameworks and content management systems implementing the design system
  • Increase automation of test/deployment of design-system-starter site to align with design-system-components

Things we will be working on in the long term:

  • Explore use of a 'utility' component to provide finer-grained control over layouts, spacing and media-specific targeting
  • Seperate the Design System React components into a separate repository
  • Incorporate official Australian Government Branding Implementation guidance into the design system documentation site
  • Explore cost-recovery options
  • Document and publish governance model
